Sweet Saturday; Iced Easter Biscuits

These are simple and a lovely Holy Saturday activity to do with your little ones leading up to the Easter Sunday. The recipe isn’t groundbreaking, neither is the method. They’re just so pretty I thought I’d share 😊.

Ingredients and Method

100g softened butter image

225g self raising flour

a few drops of vanilla essence

100g caster sugar

1 large beaten egg

1 tbsp milk image

For the icing I just use packets of fondant icing and some icing tubes as well as various decorating sprinkles in the cupboard (I’m using them all up before the big move).

  1. Preheat the oven to 190C/170C Fan/ Gas 5. Put greaseproof paper on two baking trays.
  2. Rub the butter and flour together with your fingertips until it’s like breadcrumbs. Add the vanilla, sugar, beaten egg and milk and form a dough. Roll out and cut out the biscuit shapes you want, laying them on the trays.
  3. Bake for between 8-12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
  4. Roll out the fondant icing. To ice use a tube of icing to randomly put some on a biscuit, use the same cookie cutter to cut out the animal shape and then lay this on top of the randomly iced biscuit. Decorate. That simple ☺️.
